Carey Mulligan and Daniel Bruhl backing European Film Promotion
Carey Mulligan and German actor Daniel Bruhl are among the celebrities calling for continued funding for an organisation which promotes European cinema around the world.
Rust and Bone star Matthias Schoenaerts has also added his name to a letter to the European Parliament urging support for European Film Promotion (EFP), a network of organisations which work together to market locally-made movies from across Europe.
The document, sent on Monday (22Oct12), is part of an ongoing
campaign to ensure the EFP retains financial sponsorship under the
European Union's new framework for cultural projects.
Officials at the European Council of Ministers are currently in the
process of deciding how to dole out the EU's film subsidies to
industry programs.
The new rules, to be announced by the end of next month (Nov12),
will govern the EU's budget for cultural and educational affairs
for the 2014-2020 period, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
