Bradley Cooper in talks to direct A Star is Born
Bradley Cooper is in negotiations to take over the remake of A Star Is Born, which pal Clint Eastwood has been trying to get off the ground for almost four years.
The project, in which Eastwood was hoping to cast Beyonce as his leading lady, will mark the American Sniper star's directorial debut should he sign on.
It's the remake of a 1937 movie musical, which featured Janet
Gaynor and Fredric March.
Eastwood was all set to start shooting the film when Beyonce fell
pregnant and the director turned his attention to another movie
musical, Jersey Boys.
Asked about the state of A Star is Born during a recent interview
with The Hollywood Reporter, Eastwood said, "I talked about that
(movie) for a while with Warner Brothers' people and we're still
playing with that idea. But the problem at the beginning (was) they
were more infatuated with just the idea of the casting.
"They were talking about having Beyonce in it, and she was very
popular, but she also is very active and it's hard to get a time
scheduled, so we never could get that worked out. But I'm still
playing with the idea."
