Beyonce battled tonsillitis during early tour dates

Beyonce battled through a secret bout of tonsillitis just one day after kicking off her current world tour.

The Crazy in Love hitmaker launched The Mrs. Carter Show gigs in Belgrade, Serbia on 15 April (13), but the trek was thrown into jeopardy less than 24 hours later after doctors diagnosed her with the throat infection.

She struggled through the condition and pressed ahead with her scheduled concerts - and it's only now that she has revealed her health problems to fans after sharing behind-the-scenes footage from her tour online.

In a short video clip recorded ahead of her show in Zagreb, Croatia on 17 April (13), she says, "I'm actually quite nervous because yesterday I was diagnosed with tonsillitis, (but) hopefully I'll give Croatia a great concert. I'm gonna fight as hard as I can and I know that god has my back and god will protect me."

The singer's confession could explain why she scrapped a gig in Antwerp, Belgium last week (14May13) due to dehydration and exhaustion after pushing herself a little too hard while on the road.

The cancellation fueled rumors she is pregnant with her second child, but her husband Jay-Z has since dismissed the reports.
