Beth Behrs running half marathon for charity
2 Broke Girls star Beth Behrs is running a half marathon in July (15) to raise funds for a treatment centre for rape victims.
The actress and her pal Courtney are set to run the 13-mile (21-kilometre) Napa to Sonoma Wine Country Half Marathon in California on 19 July (15) as part of their fundraising campaign Sprint Away Silence, which raises awareness and money for The Rape Foundation, a care centre in Santa Monica.
On their donation page, Behrs writes, "The Rape foundation brings
state of the art, comprehensive, free, care to rape victims and
sexually abused children. Unfortunately, I know the rape treatment
center firsthand. A dear friend of mine was sexually assaulted in
college. When she told me the morning after, I frantically googled
what to do. The first thing that came up was the Rape Treatment
Center in Santa Monica. We still, to this day, call the the staff
there our 'angels'. We could not have been more loved, welcomed,
taken care of and supported in what was most certainly the most
terrifying morning of my friend's life."
Behrs vows to post regular videos and pictures to update fans of
her training progress. Her co-star Kat Dennings has encouraged her
followers to donate to the campaign, which has a $15,000 goal.
