Azealia Banks puts Iggy Azalea on blast in song
Azealia Banks has launched a fresh attack on rival rapper Iggy Azalea with the release of a new song.
The pair has been trading insults for years, but their feud hit a new low over the past year, when Azealia publicly accused the white Australian of cultural appropriation and criticized her for failing to use her fame to voice her support for African-American issues like the Black Lives Matter movement.
The Fancy hitmaker, who also clashed with hip-hop heavyweights
Snoop Dogg and Q-Tip over similar issues, revisited the conflicts
in a new interview with Elle Canada, in which she admitted she
would love to forget all about 2015.
"If I could, I would Men in Black memory-erase 2015, I totally
would - that would be amazing!" she confessed of her desire to
possess the same powers as the secret agents in Will Smith's sci-fi
movie.
Iggy went on to state her rivalry with Azealia runs deeper than the
allegations of cultural appropriation, because the stars really
"don't like each other on a personal level".
However, dredging up old Twitter disputes in the press has only
incensed Azealia more, and now she has taken aim at Iggy again.
"No one is talking about you so you choose to mention me...," the
212 star wrote.
"Wrong move h**... Mentioning me is the only thing that will get
you attention. Because ur (sic) music and nose job are trash", she
continued, slamming Iggy's plastic surgery.
She then declared, "I'm about to take my pettiness to a whole new
level", before sharing a new track, titled Used To Being Alone. The
tune samples Iggy's My World, and appears to be a snide reference
to rumors suggesting the blonde reworked portions of Azealia's 212
hit for her new single, Azillion.
"How does it feel to treat me the way you do?" sings Azealia on
Used To Being Alone.
Iggy has yet to respond to the taunting tweets.
