Amber Heard's 2014 texts allegedly detail Johnny Depp's 'abuse'
Johnny Depp's allegedly abusive behavior is said to have begun even before he married Amber Heard.
The 52-year-old actor has been at the center of claims that he was violent to wife Amber during their 15 month marriage, with the actress obtaining a domestic violence restraining order against her spouse after claiming he threw a phone at her during a fight two days before she decided to end their union.
Heard, 30, has since claimed that this was one of a number of
incidents throughout their marriage that Depp was abusive towards
her, with reports suggesting she has documented these exchanges in
a journal.
But on Wednesday (01Jun16), text messages reportedly sent between
Heard and Depp's assistant Stephen Deuters back in May 2014
emerged, suggesting that the actor's allegedly abusive behavior had
already started - prior to the pair marrying in February 2015.
Entertainment Tonight obtained screenshots of the alleged messages,
and indicated that Deuters had texted Heard explaining that Depp
was unaware that he had been abusive towards his partner.
"When I told him he kicked you, he cried. It was disgusting. And he
knows it," Deuters is said to have begun.
Heard then replied telling Deuters that this was one of a number of
similar incidents, and she was unsure whether or not she should
continue in the relationship.
"He’s done this many times before," Heard replied, according to the
screenshots. "Tokyo, the island, London (remember that?!), and I
always stay. Always believe he’s going to get better... And then
every 3 or so month (sic), I’m in the exact same position."
Deuters responded: "He wants to get better now. He’s been very
explicit about that this morning. Feel like we’re at a critical
juncture."
At which point Heard added: "Yes but I don’t know how to be around
him after what he did to me yesterday. I don’t know if I can stay
with him."
She also said that Depp "has no idea what he did", continuing: "If
someone was truly honest with him about how bad it really was, he’d
be appalled."
The validity of the text messages has yet to be confirmed, but the
exchange has been reported by multiple outlets.
Depp's team have not commented specifically on reports but have
claimed that Heard has fabricated the abuse stories in a bid to
reach a settlement in their divorce case.
