Adele ignored record label emails as talented teen

Adele spent years ignoring emails from record companies eager to sign her up because she was convinced the messages were fake.

The Chasing Pavements star recorded material as a student at London's prestigious Brit School and a pal uploaded the demos to her MySpace.com page.

Bosses at a number of top labels attempted to contact the talented teen, but she refused to reply to their emails, and it was only at the age of 18 that she responded and signed to XL Recordings.

She tells Britain's The Sun, "My friend set up a Myspace page for my music in 2004, but I was 14 or 15 and I wasn't really interested in it. But it was part of my course at school to learn how to use recording equipment, so I'd record these demos then I'd give them to my friend Lyndon, because I don't listen to my own music, and he started putting them on there (the internet).

"He kept saying to me between 2004 and 2006: 'I think you've got an email from someone at Sony.' But I kept saying, 'Oh, it's probably just an internet perv (sic),' so he didn't reply.

"Then the day after I finished college, when I was 18, he gave me the website password and said: 'You should go on this now. I don't think they are internet pervs, I think they are serious.'

"I went on there and had all of these emails from record companies. Then three days later I was in the offices of XL Recordings, who ended up signing me."
