Adam Lambert is open to serving as a judge on American Idol after finding fame on the show and is "flattered" by reports linking him to the series.

The singer was the runner-up on the eighth season of Idol in 2009, and recent speculation suggested he is in talks to return to the show for the upcoming 12th installment - and Lambert is thrilled with the rumours.

He tells website GossipCop.com, "Idol has an amazing history of introducing great musical talent, and I was very fortunate to have had the Idol stage play a big part in my career.

"If Idol wants to talk to me about judging, I'd be more than flattered to have that conversation."

Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and original judge Randy Jackson served on Idol's panel during the last series.
