A film starring Meryl Streep, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, and Timothée Chalamet? But wait, I wasn’t done. There are also familiar faces like Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill, Tyler Perry, and… Ariana Grande?! Please, say no more. This cast could solve all my problems. Netflix recently released some exclusive details and a teaser trailer for their upcoming film, Don’t Look Up, and it’s crucial that you check it out.
Directed by Adam McKay -- “Saturday Night Live” sketch writer-turned-comical genius director of movies like Step Brothers, Anchorman, and Vice, this R-rated film is no exception to the genre. Except McKay decided, let’s sprinkle in some science-fiction flare and a killer cast nobody can resist while we’re at it. And voilá. This film is about 2 low-level astronomers (DiCaprio and Lawrence) who, upon discovering that a meteor will strike the Earth in 6 months, go on a media tour to try to warn the world. But in wake of this major crisis, they strike another problem: nobody will believe them.
Oh, but there’s more! Their journey takes them from the office of an indifferent President Orlean (Streep) and her humorously fawning son and Chief of Staff, Jason (Hill), to the airwaves of an upbeat morning show hosted by Brie (Cate Blanchett) and Jack (Tyler Perry). So many names from so many good films, it’s difficult to keep up! What we’re most excited for is seeing this cast of high-caliber actors who are predominantly known for working highly dramatic roles with substantial depth to them (yes, even you, Jonah) – for example Timothée Chalamet in Call Me By Your Name and Beautiful Boy, Leonardo DiCaprio in nearly all of his earlier films, Meryl Streep in, well, everything ever. We can’t wait for this comedy infusion to take over and transform their characters on the screen from anything we’re used to seeing. It’s plain to see how easily people could obsess over this long-awaited film. Also, any Leo fan knows he truly has become quite the devoted environmental activist, so it’s no surprise how closely this role and the film align with his personal interests.
Leonardo DiCaprio's concern for the planet in Netflix's ‘Don’t Look Up’ is also found in his real-life activism.

Although currently still in the post-production process, the film will release in select theaters and onto Netflix for streaming on December 24! This may be the best Christmas present we’ll ever get.
