Finally! The long-awaited “Queendom 2” has confirmed its lineup!
On February 21, Mnet revealed that groups LOONA, VIVIZ, WJSN, Brave Girls, and Kep1er, along with soloist Hyolyn, will participate in the second season. On February 23, Mnet added to the excitement by uploading a teaser starring Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon, who will be hosting the upcoming season of the show.
For Season 2, if there is no live audience, we can probably expect the voting to take place online on Mnet’s website or app, like it did for the male version, “Kingdom: Legendary War”. The winning performer will have a comeback show only for them on the Mnet channel, showcasing their new song and other hit songs, arranged however they want it.
For the first Queendom season, Mamamoo reigned victorious. The other participants were AOA, Park Bom, Lovelyz, Oh My Girl, and (G)I-DLE.
This year, we have a new set of talent that has a variety of styles to offer the audiences.
LOONA is a girl group with 12 girls and a magical, out-of-this-world concept. The first we heard of this group was back in 2016, when 4 members were revealed and then followed by the other 8 members debuting in their respective subgroups. The group’s latest title song was “PTT (Paint the Town)” back in June 2021.
VIVIZ consists of former GFRIEND members SinB, Eunha, and Umji. They recently released their first mini-album Beam of Prism along with their title song “BOP BOP!”
A group with numerous hits under their belt is WJSN, which has been busy with a variety of shows and dramas. Their latest song is “UNNATURAL” from March of last year. Many fans are excited to see what new things they have to offer for the show.
The iconic comeback girls, the group brought back to life by pure audience volition, Brave Girls will be hitting the stage again on “Queendom 2” after their revived song “Rollin’” hit the charts after being out for four years.
The rookie girl group, Kep1er, will also come in strong; their debut song recently broke the record for highest 1st day sales of any girl group debut album. “WA DA DA” has become a TikTok trend within the K-pop community and showcases the undeniable talent and ability of the group.
Lastly, former SISTAR member Hyolyn will be the only soloist participating in the show, and she is a force to be reckoned with. She is an all-rounder, and her latest song “Layin Low” showcases all her abilities as an artist.
K-Pop fans grow excited about the possibilities and performances that they will get to watch this upcoming March and you should be too!
“Queendom 2” will premiere on March 31 at 9:20pm KST; those in the U.S. can stream the show with English subtitles on Mnet's YouTube Channel. In the meantime, stream music from the participants to prepare yourself!
