Attention, '80s lovers! Beloved sitcom actress Soleil Moon Frye will be reappearing as “Punky Brewster” in an upcoming sequel series!
Over 35 years ago, “Punky Brewster”, an American family sitcom, was premiered on NBC. The 4-season series followed the life of a young pig-tailed orphan girl named Punky whose story began when she met her her grumpy but kind-hearted foster dad, Henry.
The original series earned 3 Primetime Emmy nominations and bought Frye a one-way ticket to stardom. She quickly became America’s sweetheart and an icon of 1980s pop culture.

Frye was cast to play “Punky” when she was only 7 years old, and the now 42-year-old actress is going to take the scene again to play a now much older “Punky” in the sequel series. She announced her exciting news via Twitter last week, writing: "She is back! I am back! #punkypower forever! Yipppeeee"
The plot of the Universal Content Productions project will document Punky’s new life as a mother of 3. When Punky meets a young girl that reminds her of herself, she fights tooth and nail to get her life back on track.
Along with her acting part, Frye will also be executive producer of the show along with the original series creator David Duclon.
