As we previously reported, The Driver Era is a band made up of former(?) R5 lead vocalist and guitarist, Ross and Rocky Lynch. The two announced the creation of this new band earlier this month. Though we still miss R5, we are glad to see the two brothers taking steps forward in their careers and personal endeavors. “Preacher Man” is the only song they have released so far, and it marks the beginning of this new chapter for its members. They are starting fresh and we are loving what we’re hearing and seeing!
The catchy chorus of “Preacher Man” will be stuck in your head for a while. Take a listen here:
From the neon lights and the VHS-style clips to the dark hotel room, “Preacher Man” definitely shows us a more mature Ross. In the video, we see him lounging in his bedroom with his love interest and having a fun night out with friends and being reckless.
The two brothers had been considering a creation of a new band for a long time, and it wasn’t until recently when things became official. Their idols are Elon Musk and Steve Jobs because they serve as pioneers in their industries. Like them, Ross and Rocky want to keep creating new music and challenging themselves and their style.
Though by the name and the crosses in the video, one may think “Preacher Man” is a religious song, but it is actually not. The Driver Era wanted to make this song have a message of figuring out one’s life and what one wants to do with it.
We can’t wait to hear more of the new music The Driver Era has for us. As you play “Preacher Man” on repeat, be sure to watch Ross in his upcoming film Status Update, coming out on in theaters March 30!
