It’s been one hot Summer, and I don’t know about you, but I was definitely procrastinating on getting that Summer body. Luckily, it’s never too late to tone up, but like I said, I am probably the gold medal winner for the Procrastination Olympics and the world-record holder for being lazy, so here are a few Summer workout tips that work for me!
The Great Outdoors
Summer means that it is the perfect time for outdoor workouts. There are an endless amount of things to do. You could go swimming, hiking, or work out in the park or the beach! Don’t keep yourself cooped up in the gym all Summer!
Pass the SPF
Yep, its Summer, so that means it's time to break out the sunscreen! Especially if you’re going to be taking advantage of the warm weather! Use sunscreen generously so you can get the Summer sweat on with out the sunburns!
Make a Schedule and Find a Workout Buddy
If you make a workout schedule, it makes planning your whole day easier. Only have an extra half hour in the morning? No problem! Go on a quick run! Now you can get ready for the rest of the day and have your work out checked off! It also helps to have another person with you to keep you motivated and working out when you say you will. It’s easy to bail on yourself but not on someone else!
Music Playlist
Ever go running and you’re so tired that you feel like stopping but then your jam comes on and you get this new burst of energy? Well, now you can’t stop! At least until this song is over. What you listen to totally affects your energy when working out! So, making a personalized playlist of high-tempo and personal pump-up songs is a must when working out! It also helps to change up the playlist every week or few days to keep you on your toes.
Change it up!
Just like changing up your music playlist, you should change up your work outs! Arm day? Don’t just lift weights. Change it up! Do some body weight training. Try doing some pull-ups and push-ups -- both exercises that I hate, but you look awesome doing them if you have good form and a lot of practice.
Namaste
Yoga is really hard. But it is really good for you. Not only does yoga provide a good workout, but it helps with breathing and meditation. Yoga could be your thing! Don’t be afraid to try out different types of work outs!
Drink Water! A Lot of It!
This is probably the most important one! It’s all about the H2O! Drink water every day, all day. No joke! Don’t wait until your workout to drink some water. Start drinking in the morning and all throughout the day. You should be drinking around three liters of water everyday. So WATER WATER WATER! Stay hydrated!
Start Now! And Keep It Going!
Like I said before, it’s never too late to get started on getting your Summer body. Change doesn’t happen overnight! I know we’re well into Summer 2K14, but before you know it, Summer 2015 will be just around the corner, so start now! And keep it going! Exercise is key to that Summer body, but it’s also key to staying fit and healthy, which is the real goal!
