5. Iceman
Jumping back into the X-Men universe, Iceman needs a makeover when they bring this series back to screens. His character came out as gay in 2015, so I will forgive the old X-Men movies (where he was played by Shawn Ashmore) for not including this when they made them. But going forward, I can’t wait to watch as they explore this. Iceman has the ability of -- you guessed it -- ice! It’s almost like he is the male version of Disney’s Elsa (someone we also all hope is lesbian). He is also one of the first openly gay characters in the Marvel universe to have his own on-going comic.
Compared to how many superheroes exist within the DC and Marvel universe, there aren’t too many who are openly LGBTQ+. This is why I believe we need to see more representation in media and film and more chances for people like me to watch themselves become superheroes!
