4. Widows (2018)
Widows came out last year and seriously did not get enough attention (which might have to do with the cast being mostly women). Directed by Steve McQueen (12 Years A Slave), with the screenplay written by him and Gillian Flynn (author of Gone Girl), it’s an under-appreciated gem. The cast includes Viola Davis, Elizabeth Debicki, Michelle Rodriguez, and Cynthia Erivo as widows coming together to take control of the criminal business left behind by their dead husbands. The acting, the action, and everything else is so good. If you haven’t seen Widows yet, you need to check this movie out!
