1. Santa Claus, IN
Yes, you are reading this correctly. There is a city in Indiana named Santa Claus -- go figure! It’s pretty much known as the Christmas Capital. In fact, thousands of letters to Santa Claus pore in every year to the town. They have an array of festivities including Land of Lights, a 1.2-mile drive-through Christmas light extravaganza. The light show is located inside the Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort. Check it out!
2. Durango, CA
All aboard the Polar Express! Okay, it’s not exactly the Polar Express, but it’s pretty close. The Durango & Silverton Railroad brings to life Chris Van Allsburg’s Polar Express. They have their own versions of the train ride and it’s not just for kids. You can bring the whole family along! They sing and even punch tickets like they did in days of old.
3. Nevada City, CA
If you are looking for a Victorian-style Christmas, this is the place to visit. Nevada City, a Gold Rush town nestled in the Foothills, will brighten your night as the downtown area is covered in Christmas lights. Nevada City says their celebration is "a Christmas card” come to life. There are also handcrafted treasures in this small town with Victorian singers and bagpipers.
