Let’s set the scene: it’s a Friday or Saturday night in L.A. and you and your friends are brainstorming ways to spend your evening. No one can seem to agree on one plan, and you’re seconds away from giving up and calling it a night by staying in and watching a movie. If this sounds like you and your friends at all, you should definitely keep reading.
Anyone who is visiting or lives in L.A. quickly comes to realize that, in a city as large and spread out as this one, it can sometimes be overwhelming to decide on one plan when there are SO many options. So, to help you out, we’ve compiled a list for the next time you’re stuck!
1. Cinespia Outdoor Movie (Hollywood Forever Cemetery)
Instead of staying in to watch a movie on Netflix, try mixing it up by heading over to the Hollywood Forever Cemetery for an outdoor movie hosted by Cinespia! Not only do these events screen classic films (most recently Cameron Crowe’s Almost Famous and John Hughes’s Ferris Bueller’s Day Off), there are also themed photo booth sets and food stands to provide you with plenty of entertainment. Be sure to bring a cozy blanket or chairs for seating (and maybe some bug spray to be safe) and check out their website for upcoming events and ticket info!
2. Moonlight Rollerway (Glendale)
If you’re looking for a fun, active, and retro way to spend your night, Moonlight Rollerway is your solution! This roller rink is adorned with neon lights and disco balls and is sure to make you feel like you’ve time traveled back to the '80s. Head over to this link for all the ticket info you need to live out your retro, roller-skate dreams! Bonus: If you’re a fan of HBO’s hit show "Euphoria", you may also recognize this spot from Season 1, Episode 5, when Lexi, Rue, and Jules go skating!

3. Comedy Clubs
L.A. has a great comedy scene with tons of fun, lively stand-up and improv comedy shows! Michael Juliano of Time Out has compiled a list of the greatest comedy clubs that you need to check out! Rumor has it, The Comedy Store in West Hollywood is supposedly haunted, so if you’re in the mood for some laughs and a potential ghost sighting, you’ve found your place.
4. First Friday on Abbot Kinney (Venice)
While this food truck event only happens once a month, you need to check out First Fridays if you consider yourself a true foodie! At this event, incredible food trucks line the street of Abbot Kinney Blvd, offering a huge range of cuisines to choose from. The overall vibe is friendly and energetic, and with all that food to choose from, you won’t be left disappointed (or hungry)! Their next event is Friday, August 5th!
So, next time you’re struggling to choose a fun activity to fill your weekend night in L.A., make sure to come back to this list for these bomb recommendations!
