J Balvin
He's already gotten a couple shout-outs in this article, so it's time to give him his own spotlight! This Columbian artist is another musician that has made a breakthrough in Latin rap music. As mentioned above, he collaborated with Cardi B and Bad Bunny on the song “I Like it”, which made it to the top of Billboard’s Hot 100. He is also the artist who collaborated with Willy William and Beyoncé for the song “Mi Gente”, which peaked at number 18 on the Billboard’s Hot 100.
His new album with Bad Bunny, Oasis, is also showing success. As of this writing, the song “QUE PRETENDES” is on iTunes’ Top 100 and is number 1 on iTunes’ Hottest Tracks. The song has a lowkey beat, with smooth lyrics by Balvin and Trap lyrics by Bad Bunny. It makes you want to dance slow, yet upbeat at the same time. The song is a good representation of what Spanish music is.
Like I’ve been saying, Reggaetón music and Reggaetón artists have assimilated in the American Hip-Hop Culture. The songs play on English-speaking radio stations, restaurants, bars, and clubs. The diversity and acceptance of a foreign genre of music is amazing. Who doesn’t appreciate good music that makes you want to move your body? BAILA, BAILA!
