Yoko Ono's artwork graces newspaper front page
A work of art created by Yoko Ono has been used as the cover for a special edition of a newspaper in her late husband John Lennon's hometown.
Ono took inspiration from the culture and spirit of Liverpool in England - the city that spawned The Beatles - to create an image of a shaft of light stretching into the sky.
The artwork, adorned with the message 'Imagine Peace' in 24
different languages, has been used as the cover image for an
edition of the Liverpool Echo celebrating the 50th anniversary this
weekend (18-19Aug12) of the night the classic Fab Four line-up
played their first show together.
Ono tells the publication, "The cover represents Liverpool now and
in the future. The reason I was inspired to do Imagine Peace in
different languages was when I came to the city last time I noticed
so many people from different countries and it looked like they
were feeling so comfortable in Liverpool. I thought that was
beautiful."
