Tom Hardy will be adding to his tattoo collection with an inking designed by Leonardo DiCaprio after losing a bet.
The 39-year-old actor earned an Oscar nomination for his role in The Revenant, in which he co-starred with Leonardo. His recognition by the Academy Awards was predicted by Leonardo, who bet Tom that he would get a nomination - with the loser having to get an etching of the other's design.
While Tom didn't take home the Best Supporting Actor statuette, losing out to Mark Rylance for Bridge of Spies, he now has to hold up his end of the bargain - although he has asked Leonardo to make a slight adjustment to his inking.
"I haven't got it yet, because it sucks..." he told Britain's Esquire magazine. "He wrote, in this really (bad) handwriting, 'Leo knows everything.' Ha! I was like, 'OK, I'll get it done, but you have to write it properly'."
Tom might have trouble finding the perfect location for the etching, given that he already has a vast array of tattoos over his body. In February (16), he had 21 designs - among them the London skyline, a dragon and the name Lindy.
That was actually the result of another bargain Tom made, this time with agent Lindy King. “I said, ‘If you ever get me to Hollywood, I’ll get your name tattooed on me.’ So I did," Tom smiled during a previous interview.
Tom has made a name for himself as one of Britain's most talented actors in Hollywood, with roles in movies such as Inception, Mad Max: Fury Road and The Dark Knight Rises.
He has also taken on decidedly darker roles in recent years, including his portrayal of British gangsters the Kray twins, telling Esquire: "There's a part of me that wants to do different stuff, but there's a part of me that goes: do you know what? I want to carry on playing gangsters because every time you go a little bit deeper in that study.
"Why switch it up and be rice-paper thin? 'Oh, he's good because he's doing a musical now!' You know what I mean? It's like, 'Look at me! I'm trying to please people!' "
