Taylor Swift's social networking accounts hacked
Taylor Swift's Twitter and Instagram.com accounts were briefly taken over by hackers, who threatened to release nude photos of the pop superstar, on Tuesday (27Jan15).
The Blank Space hitmaker, who has been on vacation in Hawaii, awoke on Tuesday morning to discover her Twitter profile had been infiltrated by cyber criminals calling themselves the 'Lizard Squad', who called on her 71 million fans to follow the hackers' accounts.
They then gained access to Swift's Instagram account too, and
posted similar messages online, claiming to be in possession of
naked snaps of the singer, which they would release for a small
fee.
Swift used her Tumblr.com blog to alert devotees to the cyber
attack, revealing, "This is going to be a long day", but social
networking officials managed to move quickly and shut down the
illegal access, in addition to the hackers' Twitter accounts.
Returning to Twitter, the star made light of the situation by
amending the lyrics of her hit song Shake It Off, writing, "Cause
the hackers gonna hack, hack, hack, hack, hack..."
She also gave a special shout out to Paramore's Hayley Williams,
who alerted her pal to the strange messages, adding, "I'd like to
acknowledge the MVP (most valuable player) of the day,
@yelyahwilliams, for being the first to text me about the hack this
morning. #FriendshipGoals".
And Swift made it clear the alleged nude photos don't exist,
tweeting, "PS any hackers saying they have 'nudes'? Psssh you'd
love that wouldn't you! Have fun photoshopping cause you got
NOTHING (sic)."
The Lizard Squad members claim they are the same group behind the
Sony PlayStation and Xbox Live gaming hacks last year (14), while
they also allege to have caused Facebook and Instagram to go down
briefly on Monday (26Jan15).
