Shakira's sick son forced her to scrap awards show appearances

Shakira was forced to cancel a string of recent appearances when her son Sasha fell ill.

The Colombian pop star had fans worried last week (ends11Feb16) when she took to Twitter to announce she was pulling out of Sunday's (20Nov16) American Music Awards and the upcoming Latin Grammy Awards because she couldn't travel due to "personal matters".

She didn't expand on the news at the time, but on Tuesday (15Nov16), the Hips Don't Lie singer returned to social media to reveal her son was sick and assure fans everything was fine.

She posted a photo of herself and a smiling Sasha on Instagram and added the caption: "Thanks for all the messages you sent for Sasha while he was sick. Everything is under control now, and he's back to his cheerful self!"
