Reese Witherspoon's husband tried to calm her down mid-arrest
Reese Witherspoon's husband Jim Toth quietly turned on her during the couple's double arrest on 19 April (13), and told the actress she should have kept quiet and let him get arrested for a DUI.
The intoxicated star lashed out at the traffic police officer who pulled her husband over in Atlanta, Georgia and angrily attempted to use her celebrity to intimidate him.
As a result of her bad behavior, which she has now apologized for,
Witherspoon was arrested. She escaped with a fine after pleading no
contest to a charge of disorderly conduct.
Now, police audio and video footage released from the scene of the
arrest suggests Toth tried to calm his furious wife down during a
quiet moment while the officer was filling out paperwork.
The talent agent can be heard telling the actress, "All you should
have done is let me get arrested... Now you've turned it into
national news... It just turned really bad is all I'm saying."
Toth was also spared jail time after appearing in person to plead
guilty to his DUI charge. He was sentenced to 40 hours of community
service, ordered to complete an alcohol education program and
placed on 12 months' probation.
