Bobbi Kristina Brown's relatives were planning to stage an intervention to tackle her alleged drug troubles shortly before her near-drowning incident in January (15).
The late Whitney Houston's only child with ex-husband Bobby Brown died in July (15), almost six months after she was found unresponsive in a bathtub at her Roswell, Georgia home.
Now her aunt, Whitney's sister-in-law and manager Pat Houston, has broken her silence over the tragedy, revealing she had been organising an intervention and was planning to send the 22 year old to a medical facility in California.
"When we really found out that Krissy was in trouble, we were really making plans to do something about it," she tells news show Entertainment Tonight, "but it came too late."
An initial autopsy proved inconclusive and the coroner's final report has since been sealed to keep Bobbi Kristina's cause of death private, as her boyfriend, Nick Gordon, faces a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the tragic youth's court-appointed co-conservator, Bedelia Hargrove. In the papers, Hargrove claims the couple's relationship had grown increasingly volatile in the lead up to her health crisis, which she alleges was caused by a "toxic cocktail" Gordon gave his girlfriend, rendering her unconscious, on the night of 31 January (15).
Gordon's lawyer has slammed the accusations, but Pat admits she was never a fan of her niece's partner, who Whitney had informally adopted when he was younger. Pat even filed a restraining order against Gordon last year (14).
"Where the world saw that she (Bobbi Kristina) was angry and mad at me, she was texting me all along," she explained. "I really tried to show her (that), 'I'm going to do this to let you know that you don't have to be afraid of anything. I got you.'"
Asked what she would tell Bobbi Kristina if she had the chance, Pat added, "You don't have to be afraid to speak out. You have to have self-worth. You have to love yourself. You have to call on people and not allow someone to divide you and then conquer you."
Pat's comments emerge days after Bobbi Kristina's friend and former roommate Danyela Bradley appeared to shed a little light on the youngster's troubled final months in a deposition relating to a car accident the pair had been involved in on 27 January (15).
In the papers, obtained by editors at UsMagazine.com, Bradley claimed, "She smoked marijuana, she probably smoked crack often, and also did heroin."
