Nicki Minaj wants kids protected from explicit lyrics

Rapper Nicki Minaj has urged parents to protect their children from the explicit lyrics on her albums.

The Super Bass hitmaker's records include adult-only versions of her mainstream tracks, which are cleaned up for radio and TV use.

And Minaj insists she would be horrified if parents weren't stopping their children from listening to the X-rated renditions of her famous songs.

She tells Britain's The Guardian, "I don't want children cursing. I'm very strict on my nieces and my little brother. They have to listen to clean versions of music."

But the outlandish star refuses to scrap swearing on her albums - insisting it's sexist to expect a female rapper to be clean-cut while her male peers continue to curse.

She adds, "Why do people ask me to lose swear words? Do people ask Eminem to lose swear words? Do they ask Lil Wayne to lose swear words? Nobody stops them and says 'Would you stop swearing... for the children, please?'"
