Natalie Portman has no plans to rejoin Marvel universe
Natalie Portman is “done” with Marvel movies.
The Oscar-winning actress played Jane Foster in the first two Thor movies, though isn’t coming back for the third installment, Ragnarok, when it hits screens in 2017.
The character has also never joined Thor actor Chris Hemsworth in
an Avengers movie, and now admits she thinks 2012’s Thor: The Dark
World is the last audiences will see of Jane.
“As far as I know, I’m done,” she told The Wall Street Journal. “I
don’t know if, maybe one day, they’ll ask for an Avengers 7 or
whatever. I have no idea! But as far as I know I’m done. But it was
a great thing to be a part of.”
The third Avengers flick, Infinity War, is currently in
pre-production, and sees Chris team up with Sebastian Stan and Josh
Brolin for the next Marvel adventure. Samuel Jackson and Chris
Pratt are also rumored to be starring.
Next up for Natalie is Jackie, a film about the life of Jacqueline
Kennedy. The 35-year-old actress plays the former First Lady, a
role Natalie calls “incredible”.
“It was a really incredible experience getting to play Jackie, and
the film, which I’m really proud of, is going to premiere at the
Venice Film Festival and then the Toronto Film Festival,” she
smiled.
Her big screen directorial debut also hits cinemas on Friday
(19Aug16). A Tale of Love and Darkness also stars Natalie, with the
project giving the Israel-born star a taste for filmmaking.
“I would love to; it was a really amazing experience and unique
experience. But I’m in the early stages, because it sort of feels
like you need to get this one out into the world before really
focusing on another."
