Liam Payne is downplaying an online leak of his collaboration with rappers Juicy J and Wiz Khalifa.
The 22-year-old singer is currently on hiatus from his world-famous boy band One Direction. All four members of the group have been working on solo projects during their break and an unreleased track called You that Liam worked on with Juicy and Wiz caused mass hysteria when it hit the internet on Wednesday (20Apr16).
Fans were quick to assume the song, which TMZ.com claimed was one of five songs Liam, Juicy and producer TM88 had worked on together, was Liam's debut solo single.
However, the young star was quick to take to his social media accounts to set the record straight.
“Hearing that I’ve got a single out lol (laugh out loud) thats (sic) a surprise to me that’s a one take scratch demo I was writing with someone as an idea for them," Liam tweeted.
"Guess I need to guard my projects better… They don’t even let you finish these days."
Adding some laughing emojis, Liam concluded: "Just to clarify I do not have a single what u (sic) just heard is something i get up to on a weekend lol."
Despite Liam's comments, TMZ claim the singer is working hard to get material ready for a full solo album.
Since leaving One Direction, Zayn Malik has enjoyed a hugely successful solo career with singles including Pillowtalk and Like I Would.
It has been reported that Louis Tomlinson is going to focus on songwriting and his new baby, Freddie, during One Direction's break, while Harry Styles is thought to be pursuing an acting career. Niall Horan, meanwhile, is starting his own golf agency.
Liam is also being kept busy with his personal life, as he recently embarked on a romance with newly-single Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.
