Lady Gaga has hit back at those who criticized her feminine figure during her Super Bowl performance on Sunday (05Feb17).
The 30-year-old singer took to the stage at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, to perform the Halftime Show. While the majority of fans were blown away by her energetic performance, some took aim at Gaga's curves, which she flaunted in a white crop top and silver hot pants.
On Wednesday (08Feb17), Gaga took to her Instagram page to address the social media trolls, writing a lengthy post alongside a snap of herself mid-performance.
"I heard my body is a topic of conversation so I wanted to say, I'm proud of my body and you should be proud of yours too," she wrote. "No matter who you are or what you do. I could give you a million reasons why you don't need to cater to anyone or anything to succeed.
"Be you, and be relentlessly you. That's the stuff of champions. thank you so much everyone for supporting me. I love you guys. Xoxo, gaga."
As fans watched Gaga give the performance her all, some took to their social media page to criticize her figure.
One wrote, "Gaga, that flap though!" as another added, "I just feel like #Gaga's dough should've been tucked in better."
However, others came out in support of the Bad Romance singer, with one hitting back, "I wish I had a pot belly. Pot bellies are sexy... Like Madonna when she did lucky star."
Another wrote: "Can we talk about Lady Gaga's cute belly?"
Gaga opened up about how she was preparing for the Super Bowl performance fitness wise as she spoke to Michael Strahan on Good Morning America prior to the show.
In an interview with Michael Strahan on Good Morning America, Gaga discussed what she’s been doing to gear up her body for this intense performance.
“I work out a lot,” she said. “I also do VersaClimbing while I sing, and I sing while I do it. Because the show is full on cardio, (as are) my performances most of the time. So, it’s cardio while singing."
VersaClimbing combines both lower and upper body exercise into one vertical climbing motion, and is a favorite at many gyms world-wide.
