Kristen Stewart insists her fling with director Rupert Sanders was not the reason for her Snow White prequel no-show.

The actress torpedoed her romance with boyfriend Robert Pattinson and helped wreck Sanders' marriage when she was photographed getting close to her Snow White & The Huntsman filmmaker after the blockbuster wrapped.

She and Pattinson attempted to make a go of their romance, and Sanders tried to patch up his relationship with model Liberty Ross - but both fell apart.

And when Stewart wasn't part of the film's new prequel, some gossips suggested her fling with the director had cost her a role.

The Twilight star tells The Hollywood Reporter that simply isn't the case.

"I read a few scripts (and) none of them were good," she said. "None of them were greenlight-able.

"I had a meeting with Universal about the places where the story could go."

"It wasn’t a situation where I got kicked off a movie because I got in trouble," she added. "We had been in talks months after that about making something work, and it never came together."

Asked why she thought her co-stars Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth came back for the latest film, Stewart said, "Maybe Chris was more into it. I actually don't f**king know."

It appears she may have been right to pass on the film - The Huntsman: Winter's War hit cinemas last month (Apr16) to lacklustre reviews. It opened with a disappointing $20.1 million debut weekend.
