Kendall Jenner is the new face of Mango.
The fashion job is the latest campaign the reality star-turned-model can add to her burgeoning résumé, after wowing in high profile ads for Calvin Klein, Karl Lagerfeld and Fendi among others.
She follows in the footsteps of Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne, and will be the star of Mango's Tribal Spirit adverts. Tribal Spirit marks one of four themes for the brand's spring 16 campaign. The clothes Kendall models are inspired by the African savanna, and include pieces such as a tribal print dress and a leather fringe mini dress.
"We thought that (Kendall) was the best model to embody this trend," Mango vice president Daniel López told WWD. "And obviously the upside with that is that, as a model, she’s very professional, she works fantastically. As a celebrity she has huge repercussions in the market and among her followers.”
The photos were shot by David Sims in London in December (15), and Daniel is just as complimentary about his work as he is Kendall's.
"(He is) a master of the photography, with a huge talent, undisputed prestige and experience," Daniel praised. "Moreover, we knew his work and we thought he would be the best to shoot the campaign. We knew he was going to be able to bring his unique, creative energy and expertise to Mango.”
The campaign will run in the March issues of magazines, and on Mango's platforms from 1 February (16). After Tribal Spirit drops, it will closely be followed by a fresh image each month of the spring season. The new chapters of the campaign will feature a different model, with Mango's goal to align the fast pace of fashion with its new marketing drive.
“We are organising our marketing strategy to be as close as possible to the strategy of the product," Daniel explained.
