'Heartbroken' Robyn cancels performances over grief for late producer
Swedish pop star Robyn has canceled a pair of upcoming concerts, insisting she is still too "heartbroken" to perform the songs she collaborated on with late producer Christian Falk.
The With Every Heartbeat hitmaker headed into the studio with Falk and keyboardist Markus Jagerstedt in 2013 to record new dance tracks under the band name La Bagatelle Magique.
Falk was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer during the sessions and
passed away in July last year (14), but Robyn and Jagerstedt forged
ahead to finish the recordings in honor of the 7 Seconds
producer.
She was scheduled to hit the stage to perform the songs from the
Love Is Free EP at the Rock in Rio Brasil gig on 27 September (15)
and at San Francisco, California's Treasure Island Music Festival
on 17 October (15), but the 36 year old has pulled out of the shows
as she continues to struggle with her loss.
A statement from Robyn reads, "It was much harder singing these
songs on stage than I thought.
"Even though it's been a year since Christian passed, I'm
heartbroken and performing them feels too heavy still. I'm sorry to
disappoint the fans that have bought tickets to these shows, and I
will do my best to come back to San Francisco and Brazil soon."
