Gigi Hadid is planning a social media break over the holidays.
The blonde model is following in the footsteps of stars like Kendall Jenner, Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber in shunning sites like Twitter and Instagram.
While Gigi’s accounts are still up and running, she warns fans that she’ll be offline for a month around Christmas time. She hopes her followers understands her reasons why, and admits she has no time for those who question the decision.
“I’m going to take a break when I feel like it and when I come back and share it with you if you want to be supportive and still follow me I’m so grateful for that,” she told PeopleStyle at Reebok’s #PerfectNever campaign launch event in New York on Wednesday (7Dec16). “But if you’re going to be negative or be upset that I had to be human for a month than maybe I don’t want your follow anyway.”
Gigi goes on to say she’s grateful for all that social media has done for her career, but doesn’t think her work will suffer when she goes on hiatus.
The 21-year-old is known for sharing throwback photos, modeling shots and snaps with her boyfriend, singer Zayn Malik, online, but says people can feel too entitled to her life.
The Tommy Hilfiger model also explains that she doesn't want to lose focus when it comes to fashion.
“I really want to still pay most of the attention to my job as a craft and not lose the art in it and the relationships that are meaningful to me not because of the money or the contracts but because of how I inspired designers and how they inspire me,” she sighed. “I want to go back to focusing on that kind of relationship within fashion when I go to work for the next month.”
