Eva Longoria working with with political organization to raise money for Hispanic candidates
Actress Eva Longoria has teamed up with financial officials at the Democratic National Committee to launch an initiative to help Hispanic politicians raise funds to run for office.
The former Desperate Housewives star is working with DNC finance chairman Henry Munoz to raise $5 million for the Latino Victory Project.
She tells the Associated Press, "People keep talking about the
power of the Latino vote. But the truth is... we are not tapping
into the full potential yet of the Latino community."
Munoz adds, "Let's consider it an investment in the nation... We
are the change we have been waiting for."
The actress previously worked with Munoz on President Barack
Obama's Futuro Fund, and they are now hoping to encourage voters to
support candidates in other political races, in addition to
presidential campaigns.
She adds, "Everybody gets so energised and excited to vote in the
presidential elections, but yet we're not energised enough to vote
for the people who have to work with the president."
