British actress Emma Watson has been caught up in an investigation into the immigration status of her American housekeeper, according to a U.K. report.
The Harry Potter star's maid is reportedly facing a probe by British immigration officials over allegations she worked for Watson in the U.K. without the proper documentation.
Editors at Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper suggest the investigation is focused on a claim the woman spent three months helping the actress out at her London home while in the country on a tourist visa, which prohibits holders from working.
A source at The Home Office tells the publication, "An allegation has been received and processed and has been allocated for further action."
Employers can be fined up to $16,000 per worker in breach of immigration rules.
Home Office officials declined to address the case, while a representative for Watson has yet to respond to WENN's request for a comment.
