A woman has been arrested for allegedly stalking actor Dominic Monaghan and sending him threatening messages.
The Lord of the Rings actor was granted a restraining order against Meredith McLarty in February, 2015 after he filed a request, claiming she bombarded his email inbox and social media accounts with offensive and delusional messages and declared she had been in love with him since 2001. He said her behavior was not of a fan but of an obsessed stalker.
She was ordered to stay 100 yards (91 meters) away from the Lost star and to stop contacting him, but she violated the order by continuing to send threatening messages to the star online. She went on the run earlier this year (16) and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
McLarty is now in custody following an arrest at Los Angeles International Airport last week (ends11Sep16), according to TMZ.com. She is being held on bonds of $100,000 for two cases, which brings the total to $200,000 .
The 38-year-old is due to appear in court on 20 September (16), according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department database.
In one of her threatening messages, McLarty allegedly made a reference to Mark Chapman, the man who assassinated Beatles legend John Lennon in 1980. She wrote, "Three words... Mark David Chapman..."
According to the site, she also posted, "Save #domswildthings (Monaghan's Twitter handle)" and "Don't make me have to hurt you!"
The actor, 39, is best known for playing Meriadoc "Merry" Brandybuck in The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Charlie Pace on TV show Lost, which ended in 2010.
