Soccer superstar David Beckham is urging fellow Brits to donate to a charity appeal to raise funds for 300,000 starving children in East Africa.

The sports hero has joined a campaign with Britain's The Sun newspaper to highlight the plight of thousands of youngsters who are struggling to survive in the Horn of Africa, which has been struck by severe droughts and the worst famine in years.

He has called on readers of the publication to donate money to Unicef appeal in a bid to give the children a chance of surviving.

Beckham says, "There is nothing I wouldn't do for my children and I am sure you feel the same. Families in East Africa need you to do something."
