New mom Chrissy Teigen attempted to keep a vegan diet but quit after just 12 hours.
The supermodel is a self-proclaimed foodie and even released her first cookbook called Cravings: Recipes For All the Food You Want to Eat in February (16), but she wanted to take on a new challenge by cutting out all meat, eggs and dairy from her diet on Wednesday (25May16).
Chrissy took to Twitter to announce her new healthy lifestyle, joking, "i have been vegan for 12 hours and I've said it 14 times today."
Minutes later, she admitted her craving for meat, adding, "and now it is time for rib eye wednesdays. don't question my veganism."
John Legend's wife even nicknamed herself "chrissy vegan", as some of her nearly 2 million followers began asking her about the type of foods she's eating, including one user who wrote, "have you tried a vegan hotdog? you can't formally eat one without posting it on Instagram with the caption '#vegan'".
A disgusted Chrissy replied, "that sounds like the taste of my heart breaking."
However, the vegan challenge didn't last for long, since she returned to Twitter an hour later, posting a photo of herself snuggled up against John, who was holding a plate filled with steak and broccoli.
"that was fun," she wrote, "my book, the 12 hour vegan, out now."
Chrissy, who welcomed daughter Luna last month (Apr16), has become a New York Times best-seller thanks to her popular cookbook, which has many non-vegan recipes.
When she announced her new project in January (16), Chrissy wrote on Instagram, "I'm so excited for you guys to see - I really really hope you love everything in it and find recipes to make for those you love for years to come... pot pie soup with crust crackers, Italian sausage meatloaf, cholula honey butter fried chicken, buttery scallops with the perfect sear, spicy black bean veggie chili, my herb and garlic goat cheese stuffed chicken breast wrapped in prosciutto..."
