Chris Pratt: 'I wrestled for 12 years'
Chris Pratt was an amateur wrestler for 12 years, and convinced Guardians Of The Galaxy co-star Dave Bautista to train him.
The 36-year-old actor was quizzed by a TMZ.com reporter over a video he made for his wife Anna Faris' podcast Anna Faris is Unqualified earlier this month (Jun16), in which he and former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) star Bautista are testing out moves on the Scary Movie actress.
Pratt, who has just wrapped shooting on Guardians of the Galaxy 2,
revealed the former WWE wrestler is giving him tips, and joked he
could now take on Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson in a pro-wrestling
match. "Yeah man, that'd be cool!" he laughed.
Many who watched the podcast clip, which was shared by Faris on
Twitter, commented that Pratt, who bulked up for his role as Peter
'Star-Lord' Quill in the Marvel movie, could go pro. "I wrestled,
y'know, I wrestled for 12 years, amateur wrestling, like high
school style wrestling," he revealed.
But when asked if he would go head-to-head with Bautista, who won
the WWE World Heavyweight Championship four times and the WWE
Championship twice, the Jurassic World star claimed he would
win.
"Trust me, he's pretty scared," he joked. "If you see this Dave
Bautista, you're lucky we wrapped Guardians of the Galaxy 2."
Pratt later confessed he would never get in the wrestling ring with
Bautista, who is also trained in mixed martial arts (MMA). "That
guy is pretty strong, and a good fighter, a legit fighter too,"
Pratt explained.
"Not just the entertainment wrestling. He's done like real MMA
bouts. He's shown me a few things, but I would definitely never
want to go toe to toe with that guy. But, he's a huge gentle giant,
and that would never happen anyway."
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is due for release next year (17).
