Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are reuniting for a new TV project, titled .
The actors, who worked together on docu-series Project Greenlight - in which they offered wannabe filmmakers the opportunity to realize their dreams, are executive producing the new series, which is inspired by an idea from Affleck and writer Chuck MacLean.
City On A Hill will be set in Boston, Massachusetts in the 1990s, when the city was riddled with crime and corruption. The show offers a fictional account of the Boston Miracle, which happened overnight when crime suddenly dropped.
The project has been in the works for a while and Affleck was previously attached to direct the pilot. However, his The Accountant director Gavin O'Connor will now take charge of the first episode.
"Chuck (MacLean)wrote a pressure-cooker of a script steeped in the tribal codes of a Shakespeare play - family, blood, betrayal, honor," O'Connor says. "His take on the ties that bind is handled with a deep honesty and insight. I see the show as a brawling thriller - and an intimate family drama - played out on the rough streets of Boston."
It is unclear when the show will air, but bosses at Showtime have ordered the pilot.
