Amber Rose: 'My family stayed away from my wedding'
Model and singer Amber Rose has revealed members of her own family boycotted her wedding to rapper Wiz Khalifa because they didn't approve of the fact she was exchanging vows with an African-American man.
Rose split from the father of her son Sebastian last year (14), and now she reveals many of her family members were absent when she wed Khalifa in 2013.
In a pre-taped interview as part of the documentary Light Girls,
which airs on Oprah Winfrey's OWN network on Monday (19Jan15), Rose
says, "With my family, they feel like they're more superior or
better than an African-American because we're Creole and we have
culture and that's something I battle with most of my life. It's
more of the older people in my family.
"It's such a sensitive subject that it's hard to explain yourself
without sounding mean or bitter or angry, but I am. I'm angry that
my family is like that and they want to pass so bad that they raise
my mom and my uncles and my aunts to not fully know their
culture."
