Amanda Bynes' lawyers have been granted a continuance in her alleged hit-and-run case.

The Hairspray star pleaded not guilty to two misdemeanours in Los Angeles in September (12) after reportedly colliding with a police car in April (12) and a second vehicle in August (12), allegedly leaving the scene of the crime on each occasion.

The case returned to court on Tuesday (27Nov12) and a judge approved the defence team's request for a hearing postponement.

A new date was set for 17 December (12), reports Eonline.com.

If convicted, Bynes - who was not present for the brief hearing - faces up to a year behind bars.

The embattled actress is also facing two separate charges of driving with a suspended licence and one of driving under the influence. She has denied all counts.
