We all know Camila Cabello, right? Warm, cuddly (or it definitely seems like it), chart-topping pop star whose current relationship with fellow singer Shawn Mendes has us absolutely and completely in our feels?
Yea, that's the one. Don’t let baby Camila fool you! Perhaps you didn’t know who she was before she left us singing “Havana, oh na-na” for a year straight. But allow us do the honors of filling you in on this incredibly talented woman!
Camila Cabello was first introduced to the world in 2012 on the "X Factor" stage. The teenager was bright-eyed, quirky, and so full of talent that not even Simon Cowell could deny it.
She was placed in a 5-member girl group on the show, which would later become known as Fifth Harmony, made up of herself, Lauren Jauregui, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane Hansen, and Ally Brooke Hernandez. After years of girl group deprivation and RIPs to some of our favorite female tribes, these 5 would make all of our girl group dreams come true for the next 3 years.
The bad news: Camila would leave Fifth Harmony at the end of 2016, bringing our girl group fantasies to an abrupt end. But the good news was this: Camila would go on to pursue a career apart from the group. And boy, did she!
It’s now been 7 years since her "X Factor" debut and 3 since her exit from Fifth Harmony, and Camila Cabello is just getting started. At just 22, she has released two incredibly successful solo albums (which she’s also written), racked up countless awards and nominations (including 3 Grammy noms), broken huge records on streaming services, become the face of top brands such as L’Oreal and Guess, and most recently, landed the role of Cinderella in the newest live-action reboot.
And still, our favorite thing about her is that she’s the same charmingly eccentric Cuban girl with a voice gifted from the heavens… just on a much larger scale!
Way to go, Camila! Baby Camila must be so proud, because we sure are.
