Whoever has been binge-watching Tim Burton’s new TV series about Wednesday Addams over the last couple of days, raise your hands! The show came out only a week ago, yet it instantly became a hit. Some old-school fans were a little hesitant about the recent adaptation, as it is always hard to accept someone new playing your favorite characters. However, Jenna Ortega, playing teenage Wednesday (along with the rest of the cast), was absolutely incredible. She managed to portray the perfect Addams daughter, preserving the legacy of her forerunner Christina Ricci.
Wednesday is a big ball of sarcasm and dark humor every time she manages to deliver her lines so effortlessly and carefree. The coolest part is that she doesn’t intend to be mean or offend anyone; it’s just her nature and her way of expressing her dark self.
So, if you, like us, still can’t get over this mysterious and spooky TV show, we’ve gathered some of the most iconic and savage quotes from none other than the queen of sarcasm Wednesday Addams!
1. “I’m not sure whose twisted idea it was to put hundreds of adolescents in underfunded schools run by people whose dreams were crushed years ago, but I admire the sadism.” (Episode 1)
Let’s be honest, haven’t we all felt like that about school, especially high school? Wednesday is just saying what we're thinking out loud.
2. “And you must be the self-appointed queen bee. Interesting thing about bees. Pull out their stingers, they drop dead.” (Episode 1)
It’s always interesting to watch the rivalry between the most popular girl of the school and the “weird” main character. Wednesday surely made it 10 times more fun.
3. “Emotions are a gateway trait. They lead to feelings which trigger tears. I don’t do tears.” (Episode 2)
Sometimes the cold mask hides the true identity of a person. Not sure if that relates to Wednesday or not...
4 “I know I’m stubborn, single-minded, and obsessive. But those are all traits of great writers. And serial killers.” (Episode 2)
The first step of working on your flaws is accepting them. And Wednesday seems to be on the right path! We stan a self-aware queen.
5. “I act as if I don’t care if people dislike me. Deep down, I secretly enjoy it.” (Episode 2)
Just when we thought that young Addams is finally going to be a little emotional, she… well, she just kept being a true Wednesday.
6. “For the record, I don’t believe that I’m better than everyone else. Just that I’m better than you.” (Episode 2)
Well, isn’t this the best way to destroy your nemesis? Take notes, everybody, take notes!
7. “I don’t believe in heaven or hell. But I do believe in revenge. I usually serve it warm with a side of pain.” (Episode 3)
We know how people say, “Revenge is a dish best served cold”? No surprise that our little rule-breaker chooses to differ, even when it comes to vendettas.
8. “Use the words ‘little’ and ‘girl’ to address me again, and I can’t guarantee your safety.” (Episode 3)
Wednesday is surely against stereotypes, and we’re absolutely here for it! Especially after seeing what that “little girl” is capable of!
9. “Whoever invented high heels clearly had a side-hustle as a torturer.” (Episode 4)
Hasn’t every single woman on this planet said the same thing at least once in their lifetimes? So, we absolutely understand your struggles, Wednesday!
10. “Every day is all about me. This one just comes with a cake and a bad song.” (Episode 6)
Next time, if someone asks you why you don’t like your birthday, you’ll know what to answer, right?
11. “I figured since you no longer have an old vendetta to obsess over, you’re free to solve some real crime.” (Episode 6)
You know a person is a true savage when they are not afraid of higher authorities and can easily talk to the sheriff like this.
12. “I don’t need your help or your pity. I already have a mother and a therapist. That’s enough torture, even for me.” (Episode 6)
Lesson learned: do not try to comfort Wednesday Addams, especially if she’s not in the mood… you know, more than usual.
13. “If you are discovered, I will disown you and collect the reward tied to your capture.” (Episode 7)
Ah, that sweet relationship between a niece and her uncle. True family bond! Don’t try to deceive us, though, we saw that big smile on your face once you met Uncle Fester, little Wednesday!
14. “I will ignore you, stomp on your heart, and always put my needs and interests first.” (Episode 7)
Well, Tyler can’t complain about Wednesday being a total red flag after this warning, can he? Though it’s not like Tyler is a saint himself, if you know what we mean.
15. “Anytime I grow nauseous at the sight of a rainbow or hear a pop song that makes my ears bleed, I’ll think of you.” (Episode 8)
Isn’t this the “cutest” thing Wednesday has ever told Enid? This just proves that, no matter what, Wednesday does have a heart and cares about her friends.
