It’s been a bumpy ride since the Chaos Walking adaptation was first announced in 2011. But it looks like we’re finally getting the anticipated movie!
Author Patrick Ness has already announced that the release date will be January 22 of 2021, and we can’t wait to see Spider-Man and Rey of Jakku on the big screen together. For now, let’s take a look about what the movie is about and why it has taken so long to be produced!
The film adapts the first book of Ness's “Chaos Walking trilogy: The Knife of Never Letting Go. In this sci-fi story, as the official synopsis says, “Two unlikely companions embark on a perilous adventure through the badlands of an unexplored planet as they try to escape a dangerous and disorienting reality; where all inner thoughts are seen and heard by everyone”.
We are so ready to see their adventures and chemistry in this dystopian world! When Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley were announced as co-protagonists back in 2016, we already had a feeling the movie was going to be amazing.
BREAKING: Director Doug Liman's long delayed 'Chaos Walking' will now be released January 22, 2021. The film stars @TomHolland1996 & #DaisyRidley .

Tom Holland plays Todd -- a boy who escapes his town after discovering a dark secret -- while Daisy Ridley plays Viola -- a mysterious girl that challenges everything Todd thought about the New World. However, these two aren’t alone… Nick Jonas and Mads Mikkelsen (Remember him from Doctor Strange?) will be playing the bad guys! Who isn’t excited to see that?
Also, we know director Doug Liman won’t disappoint us. I mean, he is the man behind Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The Bourne Identity, and Edge of Tomorrow – all his films are just good!

However, fans were expecting to get an earlier release date, and we can’t blame them.
Although by 2017 the production had already been completed, reshoots were scheduled the following year. But Daisy and Tom were very busy with Star Wars and Marvel, respectively, and it took some time to get them together to film the new scenes. It wasn’t until 2019 that Tom Holland announced in his Instagram account that the film was finally wrapped!
So, why do we still have to wait a whole year? Good question!
Patrick Ness explained that the release date has (again) been affected by Tom and Daisy’s schedules this year. Both of them are voicing characters for the upcoming movies Onward and Peter rabbit 2: The Runaway, respectively, which means that they have heavy promotional responsibilities to attend to.
But even with this understandable delay, we are still hyped! We can’t wait for the first trailer and poster – which in supposed coming this summer during Comic-Con. Stay Tuned!
