(Warning! Spoilers for A Quiet Place: Day One below!)
A Quiet Place has proven itself to be a standout horror franchise, its entries engrossing audiences with a unique premise where silence is survival. The original 2018 film, directed by John Krasinski, seamlessly blended shock and suspense with a quiet (pun intended), heartwarming story about family. Its success led to a thrilling sequel in 2020, and now the first spinoff, A Quiet Place: Day One, has hit theaters. As the franchise grows, so too does the potential for new storylines within the post-apocalyptic world.
In May 2021, A Quiet Place: Part III was announced as Krasinski’s final entry in his self-contained trilogy. While there is no release date set for the film, we can expect it to hit theaters in late 2025 or early 2026.
A Quiet Place: Day One is currently seeing wild success, both in terms of its box office and its reception. Fans have unsurprisingly fallen in love with Frodo, the adorable cat that is already generating Oscar buzz. At the end of the film, Eric (Joseph Quinn) escaped the monsters of New York City and became Frodo’s new owner. We’d love to see a continuation of their story and the rest of the survivors on the boat in a future film.
The world of the A Quiet Place movies could be expanded by a story set years after the invasion of the alien creatures. The film could explore humanity’s difficulty to recover from such a devastating attack on Earth and how other individual countries and societies rebuild after their entire structure has collapsed. Such a film would greatly enhance the worldbuilding of the franchise and contrast against the other smaller, more independent stories.
Finally, a possible addition to the franchise could flip the point-of-view and focus on the alien monsters themselves. A Quiet Place: Day One gave us some clues into their physiology, but we’re interested to learn more about where they came from and what their endgame is.
As the franchise expands, it continues to present innovative ways to tell stories in its universe. Fans of the series can still catch A Quiet Place: Day One in theaters, providing a fresh dose of nail-biting suspense and immersive horror. A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place Part II are both available to stream on Paramount+.
