Shot-By-Shot Breakdown of the New 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' Trailer!
The sequence continues with a shot of Finn running across what looks to be the same ocean-bound wreckage where Rey and Kylo are battling and calling out her name. Is he trying to stop the fight? Trying to warn her of some other impending threat? Bringing her a rain slicker?
Then we see this SUPER intriguing shot of Rey and a masked Kylo Ren both destroying what appears to be some kind of pedestal(?), and atop it none other than Darth Vader's mask! Whoa, WHAT?? Is Rey helping Kylo finally rid himself of that damned mask's evil influence?? Is he finally ready to "let old things die" (see the opening shot) and turn back towards the Light? Is his own mask next?? Also, where the heck are they? It looks like white version of a First Order headquarters... or even Vader's old chambers... which is rather telling in itself, no? One theory I saw, which I kinda dig, is that they are actually in some kind of "world between worlds" that they, and only they as powerful Force wielders, can access. Do they meet up in this neutral territory in order to destroy the one thing that has kept Ben Solo tethered to the Dark Side?!
