Happy Birthday to our gurl Madison Beer!
Madison Beer is one of the most interesting artists I have recently discovered! She is able to produce music for any mood. I am especially obsessed with her more empowering self-love and break-up anthems.
So to celebrate Madison Beer’s 21st birthday today (March 5), we're listing off 5 of her best songs!
1. "Selfish"
"Selfish" is such a soft and beautiful break-up song. The strings in the beginning make it sound like it came straight out of a Disney movie, and the light guitar throughout the whole song ties it all together.
Favorite Line: "Baby, who you tryna run from?/Me or all your problems? / You know you will never solve 'em / You don't even know yourself..."
2. "Dear Society"
This song is one of my all-time favorites!
"Dear Society" talks about the pain social media causes and how addictive and destructive it is. I love how she utilizes autotune in this song, matching the “fakeness” that a social media society creates.
The music video is just as interesting as the song. It opens with an introduction to a “controversial experiment” that Madison Beer is put through, showing her locked in a white room, being given injections, and being watched by men and women in lab coats.
Favorite Line: "Been 21 since 17, thanks to all the magazines / Man, sometimes, I just wanna scream and break my screen..."
3. "Unbreakable"
This song gives strong early-2010s Demi Lovato vibes and I love it.
"Unbreakable" is the perfect song for getting over a break-up and getting back your confidence. It’s all about staying strong, being free, and loving yourself. "Unbreakable" is energetic and fun, making it one of her most danceable songs.
The music video is one of the most creative videos I’ve ever seen, with everyone walking around carrying black balloons with phrases such as “Who am I”, “I’m flawed”, and “I hurt” written in white letters.
Favorite Line: "I am me / There's nothin' that can break me / Nothin' that can break me..."
4. "Hurts Like Hell" (feat. Offset)
"Hurts Like Hell" is a super fun song about a cheating ex. It is the perfect moving-on song. Madison sings about him regretting his decision and how she hopes he “hurts like hell.” Offset's verse in this song is the final touch that this song needed.
The music video for this song is my absolute favorite. It’s super dark and creepy, showing Madison haunting a man who assaults his girlfriend before becoming the victim of a witch hunt.
Favorite Line: "I know I’m messing up your mind / The devil got you good this time / And I hope it hurts like hell..."
5. "Good In Goodbye"
The beginning of this song has me hooked! I love the piano intro and how powerful her voice is right from the start. This is another perfect break-up anthem about moving on from a toxic relationship.
The video is just as fun as the song, showing Madison fighting different versions of herself in a video game simulation.
Favorite Line: "You put the 'over' in 'lover', put the 'ex' in 'next' / Ain't no 'I' in 'trouble', just the 'U' since we me / 'Cause you're toxic, boy, I ain't even gotta try to find the / G-O-O-D in goodbye..."
Enjoy your b-day, Madison!
