Netflix Developing Creepy New Series From "Haunting of Hill House" Creators, "Midnight Mass"!
They’re professionals at scaring the crap out of us. They proved that with the wild success of their debut Netflix series "The Haunting Of Hill House", and to be honest, I still get goosebumps when I think about that creepy, floating man when I’m home alone. That’s why it was no surprise to us when Netflix expanded their portfolio and ordered a second horror series from creators Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy called "Midnight, Mass".
This suspenseful series will follow an isolated island community that experiences strange phenomenons following the arrival of the community’s new charismatic yet mysterious young priest. In the span of 7 episodes, we will experience all of the miraculous events, and frightening omens, that infiltrate the town. A remote island, a cryptic priest, and unexplainable phenomena? Sounds like the perfect recipe for a spine-chilling series to me.
The new "Midnight, Mass" project has no relation to the Midnight, Mass Vertigo comics. Flanagan is the creator of the series, and he is set to direct and executive produce alongside his long-time partner Macy. Flanagan and Macy first worked together back in 2014 on their Oculus collaboration, and they later released other horror films together like Gerald’s Game, Hush, and Before I Wake until they started focusing on TV content.
The series stems from the duo’s multi-year TV deal that Netflix had signed with their Intrepid Pictures earlier this winter. The Netflix deal also included a follow-up to "The Haunting Of Hill House", turning the highly-successful limited series into a horror anthology franchise. The sequel season is called "The Haunting Of Bly Manor" and is based on Henry James’s psychological gothic horror novella. It will star Victoria Pedretti, who played Nell in "Hill House".
