Monday Music Recap: Ed Sheeran, Carly Rae Jepsen, & More!

Ed Sheeran -- “I Don’t Care” (ft. Justin Bieber)

First up, we HAVE to discuss the Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran collaboration. It seems like Justin Bieber always returns to the music scene around this time of the year to release some hits for the Summer (yes, I’m talking about “I’m the One” from 2017 and “No Brainer” from last year). So, the man is smart in his tactics and I’m not mad about it. This year, he went for a collab with Ed Sheeran as opposed to DJ Khaled, so the expectations were scattered to say the least. The results were underwhelming, but in a good way! I was expecting a crazy upbeat song, but we were given a more chill and laidback single. I won’t lie, on first listen I did not think I liked this song. But the more I listened, the more I can picture a hot Summer day by the pool with this playing in the background. It’s definitely made for the mainstream pop radio audience, so take of that what you will, but it’s tolerable in my opinion. But really… who else is ready for Justin to make an official comeback?!
