It’s that time again – where anything and everything TV hits the radar and Emmy nominations take the spotlight of summer. "So You Think You Can Dance" host Cat Deeley and "Orange Is The New Black" actress Uzo Aduba took over SilverScreen Theater at L.A.’s Pacific Design Center this morning to announce the nominees for the 67th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards during a live broadcast.
As your host of the star-studded evening, Andy Samberg, said himself, “buckle your seatbelts Emmy viewers!”… Trust us, you’re in for a ride.
Usually each category has a standout nominee (or two) that are always shoe-ins for the win, but this year, we’re not so sure. For example, in Outstanding Drama Series, there is "Game of Thrones", "Orange Is The New Black" (no longer in the Comedy category!), "House of Cards", "Downton Abbey"… need I go on? No. But I will – "Homeland", "Better Call Saul", and "Mad Men" finish off that fantastic list of nominees. We just have one question: HOW DOES ONE CHOSE? But see, it’s not only that category where this problem is evident.
The same especially goes for Outstanding Comedy Series – there’s "Modern Family", "Parks and Recreation", "Louis", "Transparent", "Silicon Valley", "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt", and "Veep". OH EM GEE. It’s actually funny how amazingly perfect those nominees are. Last year, "Modern Family" took the win (AGAIN), but this year, will it be able to do the same with shows like "Silicon Valley" and "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" in the mix?
Another category that leaves fans unsure of which way to sway their vote will definitely be Outstanding Variety Sketch Series. There is "Drunk History", "Inside Amy Schumer" (obviously), "Key and Peele", "Portlandia" and (of course) "Saturday Night Live". As much as we love Amy Schumer and how much she is currently killing the game, can she beat out "SNL" and "Drunk History"?
To check out all of this year’s Emmy categories and nominees and decide for yourself, visit Emmy.com. So many amazingly talented actors, actresses, writers, and directors have been nominated for their amazing work that we’ve been lucky to see this past year and beyond that.
On September 20, sit back, relax, and keep your fingers crossed for your favorites. We know we have ours, and we can’t wait to see Andy Samberg take the stage and see who takes the cake in each category!
